OPEN CALL to artists in Skåne to a Unicorn IA&AR Residency
Dear Artists,
UNICORN - Artists in Solidarity is inviting you to send in an application for a residency which will take place in Malmö and Skåne in the June 28 - August 8 2021 interval + two additional weeks in fall 2021. The exact total duration is to be decided together with the artist.
Are you an art practitioner who has recently (around the last 3 years) moved to Malmö or Skåne and still find it difficult to become part of the Swedish art scene? Perhaps you’re still caught between “integration”, “assimilation”, feeling “not here nor there”, perhaps you feel that you’re fighting alone and that the pandemic made it even harder to permeate through the layers of social cues and distances at work in Swedish society.
Are you looking for other artists and cultural workers to share your practice with, a scene where to show your art or talk about your art practice, or do you simply need a bit of time to focus on your artistic work?
We can offer support and various degrees of knowledge of what we have described above. We have no answers to give, nor solutions. But we are definitely looking to share some resources with you. We offer a residency grant of 25000 kr (all eventual taxes included), a production budget, as well as access to accommodation in Malmö for the duration of the residency in collaboration with several local institutions. And of course, members of our group will work to create events, networks and contacts within the local art scene.
Please email a short motivation letter and your CV until April 15th the latest to unicorn.malmo(@)gmail.com. Please indicate your current place of residence, as due to Corona restrictions we may not be able to support travel from outside Skåne. The selected artist will be announced on May 15.
Our shared working language in the group is English, so we encourage the letters and CVs to be sent in English. We are looking forward to your application.
This residency is part of the IA&AR Network co-funded by Nordic Culture Point. Hosted by UNICORN - Artists in Solidarity in Malmö, this residency is also made possible with the support of Malmö Konsthall and BRUNÅKRA Temporary and coordinated by the AR-Secretariat as part of the wider Artists at Risk (AR)-Network.
